Key dates:

Castle Coole, a Co. Fermanagh mansion, was built between 1788 and 1798 at a cost of £54,000. The special Portland stone was brought by boat to Ballyshannon and then taken by bullock cart to Lough Erne. Landing at Enniskillen it was taken by oxen the last 2 miles to the building site.
