Summary: Raleigh

Key dates:

One of the largest landowners of the Munster Plantation was Sir Walter Raleigh who gained land around Youghal in east Cork. His plantation was successful commercially and the value of the land increased dramatically. However, not enough Englishmen came and they were always outnumbered and intimidated by the native Irish. They suffered much from rebellions.
