Summary: London Guilds

Key dates:

Much of County Derry, then called County Coleraine, was granted to the London Guilds. They came in large numbers and settled all over the county. They added their name to Derry thus creating Londonderry. They established a society to look after their responsibilities and it was called The Irish Society.
