Key dates:

The castle pictured is Ormond Castle in Carrick-on-Suir, Co Tipperary which was the home of the Butler family. The original castle on the site was built in 1450 and in 1568 Thomas Butler, Earl of Ormond added this comfortable, well-lit mansion. It is said to be the best example of Elizabethan mansions in Ireland.
