Summary: Gossiping

Key dates:

A brilliant Belfast artist, William Conor, drew his inspiration from the ordinary people of working class Belfast. While Conor continued to paint up to the 1960s, he had already established his reputation before 1914. In this 1910 crayon drawing, Conor records the life of ordinary people living in Belfast. Conor’s work is a nice contrast to Paul Henry’s painting which focuses on the peasants and islanders of the West.
