Summary: The Man from Aranmore

Key dates:

Jack B. Yeats painted The man from Aranmore in 1905 while touring the west of Ireland. It shows an islandman standing on the quayside in a small harbour on Aranmore, the largest of the Aran Islands. To Yeats these western landscapes and the characters in them represented his idealised vision of Irishness.
