Summary: Kathleen

Key dates:

The Kathleen was built for the opening of the Cavan Leitrim and Roscommon Railway in 1887 and named after a daughter of one of the railway’s directors. Its main feature was the cowcatcher which was fitted to the front of the locomotive. Cattle frequently wandered onto the line in rural areas.
